A little bit about the history of the occurrence of plasma cutting and its technology.

One of the most common uses of this invention - developed in the 60s of the last century of air-plasma cutting of metals. For many, the combination of the words "plasma cutting" is still associated with science fiction. But arc welding and at the time was also a novelty, but it has long been firmly established in the production cycle of enterprises.

It is important to note that immediately after the equipment for air-plasma cutting of metals, it is widespread in the defense industry, aviation industry, nuclear energy and other high-tech areas of the economy. The physical basis for plasma cutting is blowing the electric arc with compressed air, followed by local melting of the metal and removing it from the cutting area warmed gas stream. The plasma temperature reaches tens of thousands of degrees, it allows you to cut any metals and their alloys, including steel, stainless and high-alloy steel, cast iron, copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, titanium, and bimetal.

Due to such a high temperature cutting speed it is several times higher than in oxyfuel, and the process begins without the preheat metal.
